Friday Favourites (and Collaboration!)

Is it Friday already?!

This last week has been an exciting one for me. I turned 30 yesterday (yay, new decade!), and I have been speaking with two inspiring women to bring you new content in April and May.

Collaborating with other bloggers is a new experience for me but I having come to realize how important it is to connect with each other. We can help each other meet our goals, reach new audiences, add new perspectives to our content, teach each other and pass on knowledge, inspire each other and push ourselves out of our comfort zones. It can also lead to lasting friendships.

If your interested in collaborating with me please do not hesitate to contact me

This week's Friday Favourites seem to have a food theme going on, so I added in a new product I recently tried to give it more variety.

Also, check out the app below - it's super delish!

Favourite Product Discovery

Live Clean (Fresh Face) Smoothing Facial Scrub ($12)

I stumbled upon this face exfoliating scrub completely by accident. I was shopping for a face wash that also acted as exfoliates and thought that's what this was - but it's not!

The Live Clean Facial Scrub is applied after cleaning your skin. It contains ground corn cob which removes dead skins cells and leaves your face smooth. While I was surprised it's not both a cleaner and exfoliator, this is actually kind of genius. Exfoliates can be rough on the face if used to much and this product allows you add it to your routine as needed.

Favourite Netflix Show

Cook Your Ass Off

I discovered this cooking competition show yesterday and already finished the first season (guilty!). As an enthusiast for natural, wholesome and nutrition conscious cooking this show was right up my alley.

In each round, three chefs compete by recreating classic American comfort foods such as cheeseburgers, mac and cheese, cheesecake, nachos, fried chicken ... you get my drift. The panel of judges consists of a nutritionist, person with a health issue such as diabetes or cancer, and a fine dining chef. The goal of each round is to recreate these unhealthy classics into a healthier version that the person trying to make healthy changes would like.

It's very informative, they cook with a lot of ingredients I use and it's inspiring.

Favourite Recipe

Kale and White Bean Quesadillas

From the cookbook Clean Slate: A Cookbook and Guide to Reset Your Health, Detox Your Body and Feel Your Best. I did a variation of this recipe - instead of using sharp cheddar cheese I used Daiya Cheddar Style Shreds to make it vegan. I substituted red kale for the collard green because I couldn't find it at the grocery store and I baked it in the oven instead of pan frying it. For dipping, I used PC Black Menu Smokey Chipotle Salsa. It was delicious, easy to make and so healthy.

Favourite App

Oh She Glows

Created by Angela Liddon, founder of Oh She Glows the website and author of The Oh She Glows Cookbook and Oh She Glows Everyday.

This app is visually beautifully made and easy to navigate. Full of Oh She Glows most popular recipes of the last eight years, new photography, and improved recipes as Angela rediscovered them. Recipes are searchable by dietary needs, keyword, dish type and seasons.

What I like about the app is how interactive it is. Each recipe has a description, ingredient list, directions and tips in different tabs. As you prepare the recipe you can cross out ingredients you used and steps you've already done, making scanning the recipe easier as you work.
