Friday Favourites

Happy Friday!

If you missed last week's Friday Favourites post you can check it out here. The choices I made for that post were completely inspired by the natural and zero-waste movement that is occurring right now. It is something that has become an interest of mine and I'm very excited to explore the changes I make in my lifestyle towards those goals on this blog. If this is something your interested in as well expect more of that content!

This week I'm sharing with you a blog I've grown to love since I started blogging, my current favourite book, a yummy food find, and a Youtube channel I watch during my downtime.

If you haven't checked out my Etsy shop yet, or know that I paint as well as blog, check it out under the tab Sarah'ndipity Studio Co. I'm currently working on a painting of Venice which will appear in my shop once it's complete!

Favourite Blog

The Everygirl

"Whether she is searching for her dream job or a new city to call home; is saving for a down payment or a ticket to travel the world; is learning to cook or speak another language, she needs a bit of guidance, she wants to be inspired.

She is The Everygirl. This is for her."

- manifesto

I discovered The Everygirl blog while browsing Bloglovin' and have been inspired by a lot of their content. The website is two parts, The Everygirl (which is what I read) and The Everymom (which is content written for mothers).

The topics on Every Girl cover all aspects of life including finances, career, fashion, beauty, living, wellness, and travel. The blog has a HUGE following with 716k Intagram followers, 137k Facebook followers and 10 million monthly viewers on Pinterest.

Definitely check them out, there is a blog post for everyone.

Favourite Book

Who inspires me? Soooo many influential women make my list but at this moment I am incredibly inspired by Sophia Amoruso.

I was introduced to her existence from the Netflix show Girlboss, which then led me to read her book #GIRLBOSS. I finished it last night and all I can say is the Sophia depicted in the Netflix show and the real Sophia are completely different. The show is great at showing the inception of Nasty Gal, however, the book shows just how badass this woman really is.

Going through Goodreads reviews of her book and reading how people can't relate to her is confusing because I can relate to her so much. Struggling to find happiness in a regular job, taking risks and becoming your own boss. While I might not be as successful as Sophia, I can connect with her in this way. She started a vintage clothing business on Ebay called Nasty Gal, put her heart and soul into it with very little business knowledge and it took off! The company grew so fast she was having a hard time keeping up. Nasty Gal grew into a multi-million dollar company and Sophia is now the CEO and boss of hundreds of people focused on selling great style to their customers. She couldn't fit in anywhere else so she made her own world and conquered it. She's a badass girlboss!

Favourite Grocery Find

Nutiva Organic Buttery Coconut Oil

Facebook groups are the best place to find communities of people with similar interests. So when I decided to go vegetarian, I wanted to find an alternative to butter for my popcorn and turned to the Ottawa Vegans and Vegetarians Facebook Group for recommendations. There were so many! The most recommended were Melt, Earth Balance and Coconut Oil. Someone pointed out that Nutiva has a coconut oil that is flavoured like butter...which sounds amazing. So I bought it, tried it, and love it! It has the taste of movie popcorn without coming from real butter. Like all oils though, they are best consumed in small amounts and coconut oil has saturated fat so that is something to think about if you choose to use. Vegetarians don't consume a lot of saturated fats because we get most of our protein from non-animal sources so I feel less guilty about coconut oil.

Favourite Youtuber

The Edgy Veg

I was searching for television shows that are completely vegetarian or vegan focused and there are very few. However, cooks and bloggers have made up for this on Youtube. I found The Edgy Veg during this search and love watching Candice Hutching's videos when I need a little break from writing. I learned that she is Canadian, based out of Toronto, which is awesome! Support our Canadian female entrepreneurs!

The Edgy Veg features videos on vegan recipes, what Candice eats in a day, taste tests and other fun things. She recently posted a video on 20 Ways to Reduce Waste which I was so happy about. The recipes are not salads and smoothies like what you would think a vegan would eat, but instead are recreations of classic childhood comfort foods. I find her taste tests completely entertaining because there are a lot of good vegan foods being sold on the market but there are also some really awful ones - and Candice becomes our guinea pig on camera.

She also has a published cookbook that I have not had a chance to try yet but I plan to get my hands on soon.

That's it for this Friday. I could go on and on about favourites, because I like to learn and discover new things, but you will just have to wait until next Friday.

But before you exit the screen...

April 22nd is Earth Day! I want to know what type of activities or events you are planning to support environmental protection? Share in the comments below!
